Top Games Coming Out in March 2022

Top Games Coming Out in March 2022

Another day and another month has gone by in a blink. That’s okay though, because that means that there’s a whole new crop of game releases to get excited for. Here are the top 10 best games coming for the month of March. This time around I get to select the first five and Artura will pad out the list with five more titles.

Chocobo GP — 10th of March

Switch

Chocobo GP

As a child I never had a PlayStation, but fortunately I had friends who did, which let me have a chance to check out titles like Chocobo Racing that were never released on a Nintendo console. I always loved the Final Fantasy games, so I was excited to play with one of the side characters who doesn’t usually get tons of attention.

Chocobo GP allows you to play online with up to 64 other opponents to prove that you are the best racer. With dozens of unique characters from the franchise to choose from, I am beyond excited. I can’t wait to race as a Moogle with a crash helmet, or a Chocobo with a bandana and roller skates — cuteness overload! This game looks to be a ton of fun.

TUNIC — 16th of March

PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S

Tunic

I was lucky enough to try out the demo for TUNIC on Steam last year and I instantly fell in love. This game looks amazing with its super cute fox main characters, with gameplay that feels like it’s a classic Legend of Zelda game. Mix that with a great soundtrack and the developers' great sense of humour — which you can see on signs and in the retro-inspired instruction manual in the game — and you have a must-play game.

For anyone who loves adventure games with exploration and the occasional puzzle, TUNIC will be right up your alley and worth a try. I can’t wait to get my hands on it and explore more of TUNIC's world and learn more about the adorable main character!

GhostWire: Tokyo — 25th of March

PC, PlayStation 5

GhostWire Tokyo

Ghostwire: Tokyo is a gorgeous-looking game filled with supernatural entities and mysteries for you to solve such as how the whole population instantly vanished. Featuring a mix of futuristic and traditional buildings, the city has tons of locations for you to explore to figure out who is behind all this and how you can stop them.

As you progress on your quest to save your family and the city you will learn a variety of abilities to take down the Yokai that patrol the streets and alleys of Tokyo. Plus, if you see a dog on the street you have the ability to interact with it and to pet them! Who doesn’t love that?

Kirby and the Forgotten Lands — 25th of March

Switch

Kirby and the Forgotten Landa

Speaking of cuteness overload, here’s another title that stars an adorable character. Kirby has always been one of my favourite Nintendo characters ever since his first appearance on the Game Boy; I am excited to see a new game featuring the pink puff since it’s been a while since Kirby has had a platforming title like this.

The game trailer shows Kirby with his voracious appetite eating pretty much anything he can find in the level, including cars; and vending machines where he can shoot the contents of the machine at enemies. This looks to be a fun and wholesome experience with the super tough pink puff!

Marvel's Midnight Suns — TBA

PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch

Marvel Midnight Suns

My family and I are huge superhero fans. We have watched all the MCU movies multiple times, so we are always excited when a new game with Marvel characters comes out. Sometimes the titles are excellent like Guardians of the Galaxy, and some are not as great. So seeing a game that mixes superheroes with gameplay like XCOM's looks like a ton of fun.

So far I haven’t seen an exact day this one will come out other than March 2022, but I hope it will be soon! I am intrigued to see the darker side of Marvel as they promise in the trailer, and just see the huge variety of characters that will be in this game. I wonder if there will be reports at the end of the stage like in XCOM with hilarious descriptions on how everyone died…

Those are the five titles for my list this month. Make sure you check out our other list with the Top Indie Releases for March to find our other selections. Now it’s time for Artura; I wonder how many titles she had to weed through to choose only five!

Artura Dawn

Artura Slashes Into Action

... 50. 50 titles, countless hours looking for them and many more merely narrowing it down to a measly five so that I could make this list; if wallets had emotions, mine would suffer from either murderous rage or depression.

My arduous journey came to an end after around 10 hours of research, which included looking at the copious amount of titles coming out next month (including but not limited to Hardcore Cruising: A Sci-Fi Gay Sex Cruise!, which I previewed for Next Fest). After many, many hours of research, obsessing over games, and then crying at my lack of funds to afford them all (in that order), I finally found my top five! That said, choosing all of the titles, I found out most of them come out after the 20th. I know patience is a virtue, but if I could pay for them to release now, I would... Sorry Wallie, the wallet. Thankfully, however, easily one of my absolute favourite titles of the month comes out on the 1st, and that is...

Witchcrafty — 1st of March

PC, PS Vita

Witchcrafty

I love fantasy. If you read our previous "Indie Games Coming Out" article, you know that I picked Fayburrow simply because it has stunning graphics and has "in a world of fairies'' as part of the description, so it really shouldn't come as a surprise that Witchcrafty made the list.

I won't even get to play this one; I'm fine with that, as I showed my wife its existence the second I saw it because it's just almost perfection packed in a neat little game: platforming, a world of magic, a witch with an unhealthy obsession with explosions, and a very suspicious cat. Not checking this game out is a federal crime against GameGrin (do not confirm with the proper law enforcers). I already warned Wallie that I'm getting this title on release.

UPDATE: After Witchcrafty's Next Fest demo, I can say that the game has numerous flaws. Stay tuned for the upcoming preview!

ITORAH — 21st of March

PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

Witchcrafty2

Here's an interesting fact about me: I love talking weapons; there's something about the idea of a sentient weapon that I find absolutely brilliant. So of course, when I found out Itorah (the protagonist) has a talking axe, I was sold; this was even before I knew the setting of the game is a mesoamerican-inspired world.

Challenging boss fights, a beautiful 2.5D world, and a story that sounds dark and melancholic will comprise ITORAH once it comes out next month, and you can bet your backside I'll be playing it!

Lumote: The Mastermote Chronicles — 24th of March

PC

Lumote

This is cheating a little bit since I got to preview Lumote: The Mastermote Chronicles last month; I ended up so in love with it that I wanted to recommend it to everyone. Although I have pretty massive thalassophobia, Lumote's underwater themes were thankfully far too subtle to make it unplayable for me.

The game is a puzzle-platformer that grows increasingly complex with each level, as Lumote (the playable character) can symbiotically connect to objects in the environment to solve each of the puzzles. They grow exponentially more difficult as time moves on, and I started brain crashing about halfway into my preview; there was probably an audible Windows XP shut down sound to signify what was happening to my brain, and I loved it.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands — 25th of March

PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC

I'm coming forward to admit one of my sins: I've never finished a Borderlands game; I played the first game for like an hour and a half before I stopped. That said, I am still intending to go back to it, and maybe Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands might be the thing to throw me into it! Maybe I can enjoy Borderlands this time around...

Truth is, the fact that it's a co-op shooter where you can cast magic and select from six unique character skill trees are big selling points to me; I love customisation and being able to play just about anything with my wife.

Death Stranding Director's Cut — 30th of March

PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC

Death Stranging Directors Cut

I didn't get to play FedEx Simulator on its release nor when the game was at the peak of its hype thanks to a certain pandemic; this might be my opportunity to jump into the fray and see how I feel about it personally.

I love the opportunity to play through "Director's Cut" editions of just about anything because I'm a firm believer in letting the artist represent their work however they want, so seeing that the Director's Cut edition is coming to Steam made me happy. Maybe it's time to jump into Death Stranding, even if it is a couple of years late.

That's it for my list of five games coming out next month! Don't expect me to do this again because my wishlist on Steam (which is basically a glorified shopping cart) grew by 50 this month and Wallie can't handle this sort of abuse... JUST KIDDING! See you next month, (April) fools!
