David Vonderhaar Receives Death Threats Over Minor Balancing Tweaks

Treyarch studio design director, David Vonderhaar, has been the target of the Call of Duty fan base today. "Why?" I hear you question? Did he announce the shut down of the game? No he did not. Did he slap a puppy in the face and chuckle? No, not that either. In fact, he altered a few of the gun's settings. How dare he.

Yesterday, a new patch was released onto the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II  and since, said patch, David Vonderhaar's twitter account has been pounded with wave after wave of death threats and abuse. He couldn't have altered the guns that much, could he? No, he could not.

In fact, the patch changed three things about the guns in multiplayer. They reduced the damage slightly for the AN-94, reduced the rate of fire of the DSR 50 and slightly reduced the rate of fire for the Ballista. All of these were to help with balancing out the multiplayer experience for gamers. David put it best, so we will let his words do the talking.

Not sure these fractions of seconds are worth the threats of violence. Guns have powerbands and learning curves. Over time, both change. As one goes up, so does the other. That's the short answer to 'why not'.

And I thought Metal Gear fans were bad. Jesus this is pathetic.

COD fans are brainless 13 year old sheep who had a upbringing that could feature on Jeremy Kyle.

Top man for responding professionally but he shouldn't need to.

The beauty of game tracking and statistic tracking is so developers can do that very thing. The fact he is receiving death threats really does reflect on the so called "Community" that play CoD too seriously.

Would EA receive threats like that for altering Battlefield? I don't think so.
