Dreams Shattered - Battlefield 4 Set To Have Modern Setting

Despite a couple of recent Battlefield 2142 themed Easter eggs tucked away in Battlefield 3, it would seem Battlefield 4 will be returning to modern day setting of BF3.

Kotaku have got their hands on a teaser image suggesting a very similar styling for the forthcoming sequel, as well as continuing DICE's habit of sneaking teasers within their teasers - eagle eyes have spotted what appears to be the Shanghai skyline, a mountain with a cable car and a suspiciously feminine face amongst other images.

Additionally, today EA have taken to new video snippet sharing site Vine to officially tease the announcement next week.

Teases upon teases, and then teasing some more. Send for Di Caprio; this is Tease-ception!

Unless there is some dramatic changes and or improvements whats the point, I'd be buying the same game again. 27.03 is that release? or a trailer or what? Really wanted it to be 2143.

Its all about the DLC dont you know.

More of the same then, BF3 was a good game, but not sure how they will persuade me to spend dosh on another clone? (actually, a three course meal, bottle of red and a happy ending if your watching EA).

Oh no, the rumours ended up being wrong... what a shock.

Is it just me or have EA began to milk the newer battlefield series for all it's worth? Did somebody say Call of Duty?

They said that battlefield would be moving to a more frequent release instead of the bigger gaps between releases like previously. Bare in mind BF3 has been out quite awhile (October 25, 2011) and has stayed in the light due to constant DLC releases. As long as progress is made I don't have a problem with more frequent releases, Battlefield has always made significant improvements between games, unlike the COD series which got stale very quickly after the first MW (CODMW). If it turns to a map pack with a big price I'll be fairly disappointed. But even though its looking like the same setting there is room for improvement over the current BF and we don't know enough to call the arses for quicker releases as it stands. Still got alittle faith in Dice.

(I don't like how many times I had to say release in all of that)

BF3 and BFBC2 felt very samey to me. I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't feel the same too but with a few different guns.

Gun play and net code were hugely improved upon. As well as the graphics engine, and general gameplay, kit/vehicles customization. And a rework of the destruction mechanics. Both games felt very different to me.

I didn't play BFBC2 too much but it just seemed the samey when I played Bf3.
