Dungeon Defenders II announced

Trendy Entertainment today announced their plans for the sequel to their smash hit tower defence game, Dungeon Defenders.

Dungeon Defenders II looks set to expand on the cooperative tower defence of the first, promising more towers and more heroes - possibly as high as 24 at launch, compared to the four that shipped with the original.

Before the classic DD action hits our screens though, we will be treated to the new competitive mode. Trendy experimented with a couple of PvP modes for Dungeon Defenders, but were never quite happy with the results. This time around they're looking to build in some 5v5 MOBA action.

As is the current trend (no pun intended) with MOBAs, the game will go free-to-play with the option of purchasing heroes; no word as yet on how this will affect the cooperative side of the game.

There are no plans as yet to bring DDII to current generation consoles; Trendy highlight restrictions relating to patching and releasing new content as the cause for the absence. Console players better cross their fingers and hope the next generation brings a more relaxed approach to updating if they're wanting to join in.
