Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is the title of a new 3rd person action title from PopCap. The game will use the Frostbite 3 engine and will feature co-op gameplay all centred around the comical PVZ universe.
A new trailer revealed during the EA E3 Press Conference showed a bunch of wacky plants and zombies doing battle in a quaint back yard. The pre-rendered footage gives a great view of what the game has to offer, including a crazy array of plants and zombies. The mini gun toting zombie is a particular winner.

The real details came in the form of a short play session hosted by John Vechey, Popcap Co-founder and studio director. The players took on the role of plants fighting off waves of zombie enemies including boss waves like the disco zombie. With one developer playing as a peashooter, another as a cactus, a sunflower for healing and one playing with a new Bonk Choi plant, the team had a good spread of abilities.
The animation is appropriately ridiculous but has that undeniable PopCap charm. A Gargantuan appears towards the end of the level, with whom the players must work together to take down. In a great finale, a 'corn strike' lands on the Gargantuan to knock him out of action.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will be available for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Are they just doing away with the 2D graphics? Why would they do that?
