Runescape Launch Date Revealed

Jagex, creators of the hugely popular free-to-play adventure game, Runescape have today announced that the highly anticipated launch of Runescape 3 will take place on 22nd July.

The new game is the biggest upgrade in its 12 year history and bringing next generation browser technology, new gameplay features as well as groundbreaking player-driven content.

Runescape 3 will transition into the cutting-edge browser technology of HTML5, allowing players to embark on their own exciting adventures without needing Java or any other plugins. The new tech will bring significant enhancements to the game, including improved graphics, longer draw distances, upgraded camera system and superior audio.

There will be a new seasonal high score feature too, which will have players across the community competing on weekly and monthly leaderboards.

For the first time in Runescape history, players will see their decisions affecting and shaping the future of Gielinor, both its inhabitants and scenery. They will also be able to take part in a new community-focused world event, ‘The Battle of Lumbridge’.

It’s not just the technology and features that are leaping forward though, as Runescape 3 sees in a new milehouse in the game’s heritage as it enters the 6th Age and the gods of Runescape return to re-exert their authority.

We received  fantastic praise  from our passionate RuneScape community when we first revealed the development of RuneScape 3, so we’re thrilled to be able to confirm the 22 July launch date for the most significant update in the game’s history.
