HyperX Quadcast S Microphone Review

HyperX Quadcast S Microphone Review

As an avid podcaster and voice-acting enthusiast, I’ve gone through a bunch of microphones over the years. So when I was asked to review the RGB-ified HyperX QuadCast S, I was eager to hear how I sounded.

The QuadCast S catches the eye with its RGB (customisable in-app) beautifully encased in durable metal. The box comes with a shock mount, which minimises handling noise and external vibrations, and a solid stand with a non-slip base. Though, you can attach it to a boom arm if you have one strong enough to hold it. The underneath is a dial for fine-tuning gain and on top is a touch-sensitive mute button, while at the rear is a dial for selecting the sound direction, as well as the USB-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack for real-time audio monitoring.

With a built-in shock mount and pop filter, it's ready to use right out of the box. It offers a frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz and a 16-bit bit-rate, making it a decent choice for streamers and content creators. It offers versatile recording options with four polar settings: cardioid, bidirectional, omnidirectional, and stereo. For clear audio recording, the QuadCast S employs a neutral-leaning frequency response and a minor dip at 1kHz to avoid nasal-sounding vocals.

This microphone excels in delivering superior sound quality while effectively filtering out unwanted background noise. I’ve honestly never sounded clearer, and had my gain set so low. Of course, that also means that I’ve never been quite as close to my microphone as I have to be for this, as I don’t want to turn up the gain and lose my lovely quality…

With a warm tone and crispness, the QuadCast S stands as one of the best sounding USB microphones I’ve ever had. It offers a significant improvement in sound quality over many other microphones, with a low noise floor and easy configuration for optimum performance, making broadcasting a breeze.

For streamers and content creators who prioritise sound quality and customisable lighting, the HyperX QuadCast S is a great buy. The added value of a shock mount and broader compatibility with aftermarket boom arms makes it a worthy competitor in the market.

HyperX Quadcast S Microphone Review

I’ve had plenty of microphones, but never sounded as good as I do with the Quadcast S.
