Xbox One will work without Kinect plugged in

The Xbox One and its obligatory Kinect connection has been a hotly discussed topic ever since its official E3 reveal. Now however, Microsoft have taken steps to remedy lots of the negatively received features on it console, and the Kinect, it seems, is one of them.

In an interview with IGN, Marc Whitten, Chief Xbox One PLatform Architect stated that "the console will still function if Kinect isn’t plugged in, although you won’t be able to use any feature or experience that explicitly uses the sensor", and that "you have the ability to completely turn the sensor off in your settings".

So for the people out there that are concerned about the collecting of their personal information, this could be a real game changer, with the ability to play without the sensor now being implemented.

Albert Penello, Microsoft's senior director of product planning, went on to say on NeoGAF that what they "understood, and hence this change, is that there are some scenarios where people just may not be comfortable. We wanted people to be 100 percent comfortable, so we allow the sensor to be unplugged"

Of course we have no real idea how many games will be released that won't use any sort of kinect function, so the relevance of this turnaround is yet to be seen.

Nice to know when not gaming but I bet pretty much all games wont work without Kinect plugged in given the push MS is doing to get devs to use it when coding for the Xbox One.

As long as they dont code in Kinect + Legs requirement ill be happy...
