Cyberconnect2 Open Second Studio

Cyberconnect2 Open Second Studio

CyberConnect2 - the Japanese game developers responsible for the .hack// series as well as numerous Naruto and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fighting games - are establishing a satellite studio in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, which will open in the Summer of 2016. According to CyberConnect2 President, CEO, and occasional Naruto cosplayer Hiroshi Matsuyama (who will also serve as the CEO for CyberConnect2's Montreal studio), the goal of the expansion is to "find our 'Western Samurais'" in order to "compete further in the world market".

JoJos Bizarre Adventure 1 All Star Battle

CyberConnect2 was originally established in Fukuoka in 1996 with a work force of only 10 employees. It’s a stark contrast to today, as the thirty years since then have seen the studio expand to encompass more than 220 workers as well as a Tokyo-based satellite studio.

This third studio in Montreal follows in the footsteps of some of the biggest names in the industry. Montreal is known for its thriving video game industry, which includes some 140 active developers, including studios for Square Enix and Ubisoft. Bethesda have also recently opened a new studio based there, making it one of the hot new places for game development in Canada.
