Everquest Next Landmark Alpha has Begun

Sony Online Entertainment have announced that the alpha for EverQuest Next Landmark is now available to players who have bought a Founder's Pack at the Explorer or Trailblazer level from the Everquest website. The cheaper Settler's pack will offer beta access which is scheduled for the end of March.

Everquest Next Landmark is a free-to-play online social building game. You can create and build anything you can imagine with a range of materials and realistic physics. You can also explore massive worlds, claim territory, collect resources and gear and earn money. For budding designers you can also enter contests in which the best designs will become part of Norrath.

Getting into Everquest Next Landmark at such an early stage is new for the franchise but Dave Georgeson is excited about it.

This is the earliest point in the development process that we've ever let player into a game. We are empowering these players to do much more than test the game for bugs. For the first time, our players can join alongside us as part of the development team. They will have a significant voice in how the final game takes shape.

- Dave Georgeson, Director of development for the EverQuest franchise

There has been no launch date announced for EverQuest Next Landmark but the website seems to suggest beta access will be available at the end of March for purchasers of the Settler's pack.  The alpha is currently under an NDA but the Everquest website holds a treasure trove of information for anyone wanting to find out more.
