Horizon: Zero Dawn PC Port Has Been Confirmed

Horizon: Zero Dawn PC Port Has Been Confirmed

Rumours of a PC port for the 2017 PlayStation exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn have been bubbling for a little while now, and it has now finally been confirmed by Hermen Hulst, the latest head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios.

The confirmation comes from an interview with PlayStation.Blog in which he’s asked a range of questions, one of which being a confirmation for the Horizon port. Hulst responded by saying; “Yes, I can confirm that Horizon: Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer…. There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.” It’s worth mentioning that Hulst was originally the head of Guerilla Games (Horizon: Zero Dawn dev) prior to his position at Worldwide Studios.

Following the confirmation, Hulst tried to set expectations regarding other PlayStation exclusives being released on PC, clarifying; “And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon: Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance.”

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a third-person action role-playing open world game, set roughly 1000 years in the future. Due to certain events in the past, humans have reverted back to living tribalistically, with technology being greatly limited. Despite this, dinosaur-like machines also roam the land, causing danger to the small pockets of civilisation due to a phenomenon named “Derangement”.

The game became an instant hit when it was released in 2017, garnering strong critical reception and numerous award nominations, with critics noting its high fidelity visuals, detailed world-building and combat as highlights. Since its release, Horizon has gone on to sell over 10 million copies, making it a huge financial success and one of the highest-selling PlayStation 4 titles.
