Nintendo Announces Various Projects for Mar10 Day 2024

For the unaware, the 10th of March of every year has officially been usurped from the official Day of Awesomeness and replaced with something equally as awesome — Mario Day. No, this isn't because it's everyone's favourite plumber's birthday (that's on the 11th of October), nor is it because the game released on this date — that was on the 13th of September. Instead, the 10th of March is known as Mario Day simply because of the date's abbreviation: Mar10, and Nintendo is all for it.

Announced on the 10th of March (Mario Day — don't forget it!), Sunday of all things, were several reveals for upcoming products centred around the Mario franchise. The short 2:49-minute video takes no time to introduce Shigeru Miyamoto and get to the reveals, as not 40 seconds in, Nintendo announces its planned partnership to continue with Illumination to create the sequel to the beloved The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Chris Meledandri, the CEO of Illumination, has the opportunity to talk a bit more about the upcoming sequel. The new movie gets centre stage throughout the video, but that's not all that Nintendo had up their sleeves for this video.

After Miyamoto leaves, the final seconds of the video showcase the upcoming release for the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, releasing on the 23rd of May 2024 and shortly thereafter, the ever-spooky Luigi's Mansion 2, releasing on the 27th of June 2024, meaning that both of these games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch pretty soon! However, subscribers to the Nintendo Switch Online will also be able to enjoy three new Game Boy titles, with Dr Mario, Mario Golf, and Mario Tennis all appearing as part of the membership on the 12th of March, just a few days after Mario day.

Nintendo has already had a very active year, and we look forward to see what else they'll have up their sleeve as we enter the second quarter of the year and the second half of it, too!
