PlayStation 5 Tops Nintendo Switch After Three-Year Streak As Best Selling Console
The Nintendo Switch has been the best selling console for three years now, with a very long streak of 33 consecutive months that broke Xbox 360's original record of 21 back in December 2018.

This streak has officially been broken by the PlayStation 5, according to Mat Piscatella, an NPD analyst. He says that the PlayStation 5 was the best-selling gaming hardware in both units sold and overall dollars earned in September 2021.

It has been suggested that the Switch's three-year best-seller reign may be due to the fact that both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S have been hard to come by.

There's always the opportunity for the Nintendo Switch to rise to the top once more. Not only with the release of Metroid Dread, but also with its latest OLED model. But as it stands with September 2021, PlayStation 5 has risen to the top. Deservedly so!
