Overwatch Open Beta Player Numbers Break Records

Blizzard has revealed that the open beta for their upcoming online shooter Overwatch has become the company's most popular beta of all time. 9.7 million total players were amassed, across Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

The CEO and co-founder of Blizzard, Mike Morhaime, had the following to say:

We're thrilled that such an incredible number of players from around the globe got a chance to check out Overwatch during the Open Beta. Our mission was to make sure as many console and PC gamers as possible could experience the full game ahead of its launch—the response was overwhelming, and we hope that everyone had a blast.

Overwatch will release for good on 24th May 2016. Having spent time with the beta, we'd say that Overwatch is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
