Scott Cawthon Releases Five Nights at Freddy's World, Then Regrets Doing so and Offers Refunds

Scott Cawthon is nothing if not a hard worker. With five games in under 18 months under his belt, he's been pushing out the Freddy games quicker than Usain Bolt on a skateboard. Most of the games have come out to rapturous acclaim, however the latest entry, whilst it still holds a "very positive" score on Steam Reviews, has had some detractors in its midst.

Whilst the game is stable, there are a number of features that fans were asking for during development which have not been implemented. In hindsight, a few days after launch, the lone developer is feeling that perhaps these would have been a good idea after all.

First of all he took to the Steam community to issue a formal apology for not getting it right first time.

"So I say this to a community that I’ve enjoyed and respected for over a year and a half now- I’m sorry. I will continue to add features to the game and make it right. "

Apparently that wasn't enough for the hard-working dev though and this afternoon he announced that he is pulling the game from Steam entirely and offering everyone a full refund. He does plan to work on the issues and re-release it, but it will be as a free title instead. In his latest post, he stated:

"I appreciate your support, and I encourage you all to refund your Steam game (even if you enjoyed the game), and download the new version when it becomes available on GameJolt."
