Sheepo is a Pacifistic Shape-Shifting Metroidvania Coming Later this Year

Ever wanted to explore a brand new planet? What about to collect one unhatched egg from every creature on this planet, kind of like Noah? And, after collecting this egg, unlock the ability to transform yourself into that creature, not like Noah?

Don't worry, because from later in 2020, you'll be able to do just those things in Sheepo. Set on planet X, where one day equates to 8000 Earth days, you play as the titular Sheepo in a side-scrolling Metroidvania inspired game, with an emphasis on pacifistic gameplay. Once particular creatures are collected, they allow Sheepo to explore new areas on the planet, such as the LongBird which provides the ability to fly and reach high places. The SpineWorm lets Sheepo dig down to uncover secret underground tunnels, along with five other species to collect all offering differing abilities.

Some strange creatures will also offer tasks in exchange for feathers - the planet's form of currency. Most of these will be friendly, but the queen housing the eggs you're tasked to collect will guard them at all costs, meaning you'll have to be a little careful in how you retrieve them...

With no combat, developer Kyle Thompson has created Sheepo to be based on exploration and classic side scrolling gameplay. With each creature featuring a unique set of abilities, it should keep the game feeling fresh with its own set of challenges.

Sheepo is due to launch sometime in Q3 on Steam, compatible with Linux, Mac and Windows. Check out the trailer above for a sneak peek at the gameplay.
