THQ Nordic Acquire NovaLogic Brand And Library
THQ Nordic has closed an asset purchase agreement giving them all games and projects owned by NovaLogic Inc. This continues THQ Nordic's run of acquiring classic, lesser known game IPs after gaining IPs from the likes of JoWooD Entertainment, THQ and Atari.
NovaLogic are most remembered for their military game franchises from the 90s, the Delta Force, Comanche and Armored Fist series' brought groundbreaking 3D worlds to life using voxel technology before the 3D accelerator boom hit.
John Garcia, owner, founder and CEO of NovaLogic Inc. said this of the acquisition:
“After 30 years of creating ground breaking Computer and Video Games we are proud to pass the baton to THQ Nordic. As individuals, they are enthusiastic gamers and as a company have shown the agility and acumen needed to propel our industry towards a much-needed reset”
The purchase includes the NovaLogic logo and branding along with their back catalogue including the already mentioned Delta Force, Comanche and Armored Fist series but also their Joint Operations, F-16 and F-22 titles along with their space IP, Tachyon: The Fringe.
THQ Nordic's Business and Product Development Director, Reinhard Pollice said this of the library:
“We are extremely satisfied with the new additions to our portfolio, and also very thrilled about how to continue some of said franchises, we are open for talks in this regard if any developer approaches us with a concept for a potential sequel to any IP.”
Could we see a new Delta Force or even Tachyon entry sometime in the future?

The problem with THQ Nordic hoarding IPs is that they simply can't make games based on them all... Perhaps they were interested in a single IP, but had to buy them all to secure it?

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see. I'd LOVE to see a new Tachyon game but it does seem a weird acquisition with Novalogic being a predominantly military focused company.
I'm definitely interested in any of their franchises getting new entries though, spent a lot of time with the Delta Force and Comanche games in the early 90s.

There's nothing worse than seeing companies acquire an IP and then sit on it. Rebellion have been doing it with Evil Genius for ages now :(
