World War Z Switch Edition Announced, GOTY Edition to Hit Other Platforms

The four-player co-op zombie shooter World War Z will be re-released on PC and consoles on 5th May with World War Z Game of the Year Edition. This package, as well as offering the base game, will compile all previous and upcoming content from its season pass including weapon packs, character packs and a bonus story episode set in the French city of Marseille.

In addition, a port of World War Z has been confirmed for Switch, although firm details and release date information are scarce right now. Saber Interactive's innovative Swarm Engine, which is used in the game to render hundreds of zombies on-screen at once, will undoubtedly pose some challenges in terms of getting the game running on Nintendo's home console/handheld hybrid. After the studio's marvellous work on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition on Switch, however, there's no reason to believe that Saber Interactive can't strike gold once more with World War Z.

World War Z Game of the Year Edition will include all the content from the game's myriad updates, including the post-release horde mode, bonus PvE missions, a weekly challenge mode and an upcoming new character class. On top of this, the following paid DLC packs will also be bundled in:

  • Weapon Packs - The Lobo Pack, Biohazard Pack, Special Operations Forces Pack, Last Aid Pack and one as yet unreleased weapon pack.
  • Character Packs - The Professionals Character Pack and War Heroes Character Pack
  • Bonus Episode - Three PvE story missions set in Marseille with their own maps, story and characters.

World War Z Game of the Year Edition will release 5th May for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via the Epic Games Store. The Switch port has no release date yet.
